We are so excited to launch TODAY at our first community screening!
Truck Farm Tampa will be shown off on June 21 at the Tampa Bay Market’s Flicks and Food Truck’s event from 6 – 10 p.m. at Grand Central at Kennedy Courtyard, 1120 E. Kennedy Blvd.
The community event includes a free screening of “Truck Farm,” a movie about how the mobile farming movement began in Brooklyn, N.Y. Founding partner of the Truck Farm Tampa Cultivate Tour, Chipotle Mexican Grill, will be on hand at the launch giving out chips and salsa and free t-shirts to the first 50 attendees.
Truck Farm Tampa is operated by Fit Kids Playground. Marisa Langford, founder of Fit Kids Playground, a health and wellness resource based in Tampa, discovered Truck Farm Chicago during the summer of 2011 and got the idea to bring it to Tampa.
“It was the coolest project I had seen to help teach kids about where healthy fruits and vegetables come from,” Langford said. “When kids see the film, then see our truck garden, we know it will spark lots of important conversations on our concept of eating a rainbow of fruits and vegetables each day.”
After the launch, Chipotle will sponsor the mobile garden’s tour throughout the Tampa Bay area to educate people about gardening and sustainable food initiatives. Through Chipotle’s Cultivate mission to make the world a better place by building relationships with farmers and community, Truck Farm Tampa will visit schools, community events, farmers markets and select Chipotle locations for events throughout the year.
“Chipotle and Truck Farm Tampa share a mission to improve our food supply and educate people about sustainability, so this is a natural partnership for both of us,” said Chipotle Marketing Strategist Kim Higgins. “This is exactly the kind of dynamic, forward-looking program that Chipotle’s Cultivate mission seeks to support, and we are happy to support this tour throughout the year.”
